A LETTER FROM OUR BOARD CHAIR

LIVE UNITED means so much to me and my family.  It is why I am proud

and honored to serve as the chair of this year’s board. There is an energy and excitement occurring with our United Way office staff and board members because of our new president, Scott Conger. Scott is helping our board to better serve our region by bringing new ideas and enthusiasm to this organization. The use of social media, online giving and enhanced communications are just a few of the new things Scott is implementing.

It is not every day that individuals can see the impact their gift makes in their communities.  Having the opportunity to travel around West Tennessee, I have seen firsthand the needs in our communities—large and small. Individuals receiving assistance from any one of our partners are not seeking a hand-out but a hand-up. United Way partners are able to be there assisting with compassion because of the generous support from individuals like you.

LIVE UNITED also means that as volunteers we can share our talents to impact lives in many different ways.  By serving on local boards, community impact teams, or financially supporting this year’s campaign, we all can make a difference in the lives of our neighbors in need.

One of our goals as a board this year is to amplify the message of United Way and its partner agencies. Continued service, accountability and commitment will ensure a positive difference is made in our area. We will do our best to help more people understand and feel the impact of what it means to LIVE UNITED. With your help and support, I’m confident we will be successful.

This year, opportunities exist within our organization to increase our impact. The staff of United Way and our volunteers across West Tennessee will assist in telling the story of why United Way is an important way of life for so many.  Impacts like seeing the smile on a child’s face upon receiving a backpack full of food, or simply playing “Go Fish” with seniors at the local senior citizens center, LIVE UNITED impacts lives in every stage of life.

May God continue to bless you and your family; please know your support for United Way is greatly appreciated.

Living United with you,
