Trey S. Cunningham serves as the Community Resource Coordinator at the Ford Community Center, a collaborative initiative led by Ford Philanthropy and United Way of West Tennessee to help ensure residents throughout the BlueOval City region are connected to the resources, opportunities, and support systems needed to thrive amid historic economic growth. Through strategic partnerships with nonprofit organizations, government agencies, educational institutions, healthcare providers, and community stakeholders, the initiative works to expand access to essential services, advance economic mobility, and strengthen community well-being across West Tennessee.
In his role, Cunningham serves as the primary coordinator for community partnerships, resource alignment, and day-to-day operations of the center. He works across organizational, cultural, and sector boundaries to unite partners around shared goals, close service gaps, and connect residents with opportunities related to workforce development, education, financial stability, health, transportation, and other critical support services. His work supports the broader vision of ensuring that long-term residents benefit from the transformative investment associated with BlueOval City and the region's continued growth.
Prior to joining the Ford Community Center, Cunningham served as a Financial Empowerment Counselor with the Financial Empowerment Center at United Way of West Tennessee. In that role, he provided financial counseling, coaching, and resource navigation services to residents across Carroll, Crockett, Hardeman, Haywood, Henry, and Weakley counties. During his tenure, he helped establish and strengthen partnerships between the Brownsville Financial Empowerment Center and stakeholders across multiple sectors, expanding community engagement efforts and increasing access to resources for local families. His work included developing an embedded financial counseling model with Haywood County Community Hospital, coordinating financial education workshops in partnership with INSOUTH Bank and the City of Brownsville, and building referral pathways with Tennessee's Community Health Access and Navigation (CHANT) initiative.
A dedicated community advocate, Cunningham is recognized for his ability to build collaborative relationships and bring organizations together around shared goals. His community involvement includes service on the Feonix–Catch A Ride Leadership Roundtable, participation in the Save the Children Leadership Collaborative, service as a Trustee for Leadership Brownsville-Haywood, membership in Haywood County Rotary, and service on Haywood County's Foster Care Review Board. He is a graduate of Leadership Haywood Class of 2026, and a member of United Way Worldwide Next-Generation Leaders Cohort 8.
Cunningham earned a Bachelor of Science in Healthcare Administration and Planning from Tennessee State University. He has also completed training through the Morehouse School of Medicine Summer Bridge Program on Health Informatics and holds certifications in Lean Six Sigma and Financial Counseling through the National Association of Certified Credit Counselors. Throughout his career, he has remained committed to strengthening communities, fostering meaningful partnerships, and helping individuals and families access the resources they need to achieve long-term success.
